I never had the privilege of meeting my fraternal grandmother, as she died when my father was very young. Though, throughout my life, I have developed a strong reverence for her art studio that was originally built in 1910. Her shop was a place of gathering, a safe haven for expression and creativity. And, for over fifty years, my grandfather kept her small business alive up until his passing. It is the most tangible act of devotion I have ever known.

When the decision came to put the building on the market, it became very clear as to what I was to do. I submitted my down payment and moved my life from Dallas, Texas, to Kansas, as its new owner. The land purchase for Patina Meadows would soon follow.

In 2025, renovations will begin and the building will serve as the farm’s brick & mortar storefront, Patina Market. Located near the historic district in downtown Leavenworth, the shop is fifteen minutes from the farm. Here, you will have access to shop our local & sustainably grown flora, as well as a wide variety of artisan goods and inspired gifting.

I am honored to have the opportunity to carry my grandmother’s story forward in such a meaningful, intentional way.
